Custom Parent Field Creation in NetSuite

Creating a custom parent field in NetSuite allows you to establish hierarchical relationships between items, improving item organization and usability in the system. Steps to Create a Custom Parent Field

1. Navigate to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Item Fields > New.
2. In the Label field, provide a descriptive name for your field, such as Parent Item.
3. In the ID field, enter a unique alphanumeric identifier for reference.
   • Important: Remember this ID, as it is required for the NetSuite Connector.
4. In the Type field, choose List/Record.
5. For the List/Record, select Item to make it a searchable reference field for all items.
6. Go to the Applies To subtab to select the item types applicable for this field.
7. Click Save to finalize the creation of the field.
8. On each child item record, you can now select the parent item using the custom field you created.

Creating a Parent Item

You can set up a parent item within NetSuite by navigating to Lists > Accounting > Items > New. Select Inventory Item in the Item Type field and complete the necessary details before saving the record.
