The following outlines the necessary steps to set up taxes correctly, focusing on U.S. tax configurations while maintaining default settings for other countries.
How to Configure Taxes?
Follow these steps to configure taxes in NetSuite:
- Navigate to Setup > Accounting > Set Up Taxes.
- (Optional) If you manage multiple countries, select the United States subtab.
- Enable the following options:
- Enable Tax Lookup on Sales Transactions
- Customers Default to Taxable
Note: Ensure that existing customers are set to taxable by reviewing the Tax Setting for Customers. - Respect Discount Item Tax Preference.
- Confirm that Charge Sales Tax on Store Orders is set to Always.
