Credit Card Payer Authentication in NetSuite Commerce
Credit card payer authentication enhances security for Commerce web stores by verifying card ownership and reducing chargebacks.
Credit card payer authentication is available for transactions made through your Commerce website checkout. This feature allows customers to establish a password linked to their credit card, which helps verify ownership and protects against potential chargebacks.
When payer authentication is activated, your site can display the Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode, and Maestro SecureCode logos. After placing an order, customers are redirected to a payer authentication site where they can enter or create a password, or opt to skip this step. Following this process, they return to your website's confirmation page, and the order is subsequently created in your NetSuite account.
Additionally, a Payer Authentication Status field will be visible on sales orders, indicating whether the authentication was successful, failed, or skipped. For all other sales orders, this field will remain blank.
Supported Payment Gateways
Payer authentication is compatible with the following credit card gateways:
- MerchantE
- CyberSource
- eWAY Rapid
- Payflow Pro
- WorldPay
Note: If you're using CyberSource or MerchantE, you must contact them to enable the payer authentication feature on your account prior to activation in NetSuite. For Payflow Pro, enrollment in PayPal's Buyer Authentication Service is required through your PayPal Manager account.
