SuiteTax Configuration for NetSuite Connector Setup
Configure SuiteTax with NetSuite Connector for country-specific tax rules and seamless migration from Legacy Tax.
SuiteTax provides enhanced flexibility for managing country-specific tax regulations and changes. Proper configuration of NetSuite and the NetSuite Connector is essential when enabling SuiteTax on your account.
Requirements for Using SuiteTax with NetSuite Connector
To successfully use SuiteTax with the NetSuite Connector, the following SuiteApp is required:
- SuiteTax Engine (237702)
For installation instructions, refer to the section on installing the SuiteTax Engine.
Important Note on Migration
If transitioning from Legacy Tax to SuiteTax, you must add the Lists > Tax Details Tab permission to the NetSuite Connector role. By default, this permission is available if the NetSuite Connector SuiteApp is installed on an account that already has SuiteTax enabled. If you were previously using Legacy Tax, you'll need to manually update permissions during the migration process.
Configuring Nexus Preferences
When setting up SuiteTax with the NetSuite Connector, correct configuration of nexus preferences is crucial:
- When migrating to SuiteTax, ensure the Tax Agency associated with your Nexuses reflect the SuiteTax designations, for instance, Texas will switch from Tax Agency TX in Legacy Tax to Texas Department of Revenue in SuiteTax.
Steps to Configure Nexus Preferences:
- Navigate to Setup > Tax > Nexuses.
- Select the nexus you want to edit and click Edit.
- In the Nexus Preferences subtab:
- Clear the Disallow Invalid Entity Tax Registration Number option.
- From the Tax Rounding Method dropdown, select Round Off.
- Enable the Calculate Tax Before Discount Is Applied option.
- Save your changes.
- Repeat the process for additional nexuses as required.
Configuring Line-Item Taxes
SuiteTax enables line-item taxes by default in NetSuite. Be sure these settings are appropriately configured in NetSuite and the NetSuite Connector SuiteApp.
Enabling Line-Item Taxes in NetSuite Connector:
- Log in to the NetSuite Connector at app.farapp.com.
This configuration ensures accurate tax calculations per the suite’s features and maintains compliance with variable tax mandates across regions.
Key Considerations
- Regularly verify configurations against changes in tax legislation to maintain compliance.
- Always backup settings before performing migrations to avoid data loss.
By following these guidelines, users can ensure the successful integration of SuiteTax with the NetSuite Connector, facilitating accurate and efficient tax management across multiple jurisdictions.
