Copy SuiteCommerce Configuration Records for Effective Setup
Copy SuiteCommerce Configuration records between domains easily for improved management and upgrades. Ensure correct settings before production.
The Copy Configuration function allows users to efficiently transfer SuiteCommerce Configuration records from one domain to another. This capability is particularly useful during critical phases such as moving a site from staging to production or upgrading between SuiteCommerce Advanced (SCA) releases.
When to Use the Copy Configuration Feature
Here are some common scenarios where this feature proves beneficial:
- Transferring configurations when migrating from a staging environment to a production environment.
- Upgrading existing configurations between different versions of SCA, for example, moving from a Kilimanjaro Configuration record to an Aconcagua domain.
Important Note: The two domains involved in the copying process do not need to be on the same SCA version. As newer versions of SCA might have fields that do not exist in older versions, the system will copy only compatible fields and assign default values for any new fields introduced in the destination configuration.
How to Copy a SuiteCommerce Configuration Record
To execute the Copy Configuration process, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Commerce > Websites > Configuration.
- Click on Copy Configuration.
- Select the origin website from the Origin Website dropdown list.
- Choose the origin domain from the Origin Domain dropdown list.
- Select the destination website from the Destination Website dropdown list.
- Choose the destination domain from the Destination Domain dropdown list.
- Click Copy Configuration.
- Optionally, if you need to change any values in the destination configuration record, refer to the section on Configuring Properties for a Domain.
Caution: This process will overwrite the existing configuration settings in the destination domain with those from the origin domain. It is advisable to perform a test copy to a non-production domain first, particularly if copying from a Sandbox environment, to ensure that the configuration values being transferred align with the requirements of the destination domain.
The Copy Configuration feature is an integral part of the SuiteCommerce Configuration bundle.
